MY ROLE
Director, Creative Director, Modeler, Shader, Rigger.
“All the Things” was a personal project that I wanted to create for some time. I had a number of unfinished projects filling up hard drives and finding time to complete them all was almost impossible.
The idea to make just “the money shot” from each project was the genesis of “All the Things”. Taking the most exciting moment from each piece and just building that sequence.
The biggest hurdle was bring everything together. Granted they all had a similar modeling style but something was needed to make them cohesive. I came up with the idea of block shading the entire project. One hero colour and one opposing. Little did I know it would lead to a massive design trend adopted by many freelancers and studios.
Behind the Scenes
“All the Things” was a project with a long term project timeline. It took a total of 14 months to complete. Each scene was crafted with a lot of care and attention. Key to the design was finding a balance between maintaining a similar look so entire project feel cohesive while also allowing room to breathe and break off into different paths for different scenes.
