Microsoft - Bing Maps

Laundry Studio, LA reached out to look for a designer to collaborate with. The ask, to create landmarks to appear on Bing Maps and differenciate themselves from other providers of online maps.

The goal was to create well known landmarks which were instantly recognizable. To take each landmarks character and distill it down into very simple forms while also being sympathetic to the tone of Bing Maps. Shaders should blend into the maps and feel at home onscreen rather than stand out and feel out of place.

My role as Art Director, was to come up with a look and feel very early on in the project. To liaise with the Laundry team and the Microsoft team. Once we agreed on a style on early landmarks, we then had to show other artists how to work within the approved design language to keep a consistent look across a very wide range of landmarks.
